# Linking your Epic Games account

What linking an Epic Games account means in FNLB and how to manage it safely.

## There are two different connections

FNLB uses Epic Games accounts in two ways, and it is important not to mix them up:

- **Bot accounts** - a brand new Epic account imported as a bot so FNLB can keep it online and control it. Never use your main account here.
- **Your own account** - optionally connected as the bot's **owner**, which unlocks owner-only commands and account features. This can be your main account.

## Importing a bot account

When you create a bot, FNLB opens Epic Games and asks you to sign in and click **Confirm**. That authorizes FNLB to run the bot on your behalf. It does not need your password inside FNLB, and the authorization happens entirely on Epic's page.

> **Warning:**
> Always import a brand new account as a bot, and confirm that it is not your main account when the wizard asks.

## Linking your own (owner) account

You can also connect your personal Epic Games account as the owner. This is done from the app and uses the same Epic Games **Confirm** page.

Being the owner lets you use commands restricted to the owner and manage the bot's advanced features.

## Keeping accounts safe

- Use a dedicated, brand new account for each bot
- Never share your main account credentials
- Enable [two-factor authentication](https://fnlb.net/support/account/two-factor-authentication.md) on the accounts you care about
- If you ever want to stop FNLB controlling a bot, delete that bot in the app
